Happy New Year!

Designers Guild White and Pink Room set Exhibition

Hello all! Happy Belated New year! I hope its been great so far. Mine has kicked off with a flying start all wrapped up in the world of Maison & Objet 2012 that has just finished in Paris this week! I’ve been toing and froing from London and Paris both for the build of the DG stand and the break down. Sounds glamorous but it was rather labor intensive!

I began the show cycle back in December drawing up the stand plans, making models and liaising with the contractor. The fun part is sitting in the creative meetings where the team decides what to show and how to show it! Most of the room sets are loosely based on the new collection photography shoots that are taken a few months prior so that customers can see the lifestyle shots come alive on the stand as they do in the showrooms.

It was amazing to see so many big name interior brands show up and see the imagination behind every companies stand display. It felt very inspiring to be amongst so much creativity. It was great to see how many imaginative ways there are to promote products, and, more importantly, how fundamental styling is for the overall look!

Each room set was based on one of the new collections and each featured a separate colour scheme, It looked fabulous in the end, so when it came to breakdown there was something very sad about seeing the whole hall take apart their stands and the beautiful displays that took so long to prepare for. Although I won’t be so sorry to see the back of a baguette for a while!

Nevertheless, It was a great learning curve being part of the show, I even learned how to wire all the lamps for the stand (yes, look at me go!) My father was a sparky so I guess the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree after all! I hope you enjoy the pics, it was really fun helping create them.
