Bespoke Furniture Project

A while back I worked on a project with Rha Furniture where we were approached by an interior designer who was seeking bespoke furniture designers to interpret her vision for the new Hawker Beechcraft showroom in one of the ground floor retail spaces of  the Claridges Hotel, London, in the heart of Mayfair.

The brief demanded that we design a reception desk, a working desk, a window display unit and a refreshment counter. These units all had to complement one another, be capable of providing the company adequate office storage and allow the company to market their services. The only other information we were given was that it had to all also fall within budget, include an element of makassar ebony finish, be ready by deadline….oh, and did I mention is also had to be aesthetically pleasing?

I’m rather impressed with the results, as were the clients, I’m glad to report. In the end, we managed to achieve the sophisticated results by using a gorgeous makassar ebony veneer and then oak stained to match. We also managed to compliment the veneer by using a contrasting cream lacquer where applicable.

A big special thanks to Danielle for capturing the project so well in her photography!
